Security GGD institutions and healthcare institutions

Reading time: 2 minutes

Now that the corona crisis continues and more and more restrictive measures are being taken, we are seeing an increase in aggression and violence at various GGD institutions, such as corona test lanes and vaccination locations. Various healthcare institutions, such as nursing homes and hospitals, have also been affected by this since the corona measures. Security at GGD and healthcare institutions can offer a solution.

Increase in aggression and violence in GGD institutions

Now that the restrictive measures have lasted longer, people's irritations and emotions are increasing. In some people, this leads to aggression and violence against various GGD institutions, such as corona test lanes and vaccination locations.

Everyone has seen the images of the fire in the corona test location in Urk during the curfew riots on January 25. But several other GGD institutions throughout the country have also recently been victims of riots, arson, vandalism and violence. A test street in Hilversum even had to close after suspicious goods were found. It turned out to be flammable objects that were attached to pieces of fireworks.

Increase in aggression and violence in healthcare institutions

Unfortunately, we are also seeing an increase in aggression and violent incidents in various healthcare institutions. More than a quarter of staff in healthcare institutions and hospitals have experienced aggression more often in recent months. The cause of this is mainly visitors and/or family of patients who do not want to adhere to the corona measures. Some of the staff even faced physical violence.

In addition, hospitals have also been victims of the curfew riots in recent weeks. For example, rioters pelted various hospitals with fireworks and tried to smash the windows of several hospitals.

Use physical security guards

Because of these developments, many GGD institutions use camera surveillance. In addition, many test and vaccination locations of the GGD are now secured 24 hours a day with physical security guards. The same applies to various hospitals and other healthcare institutions.

For these reasons, it is wise to use physical security:

  • Security guards monitor compliance with the corona measures. Particularly in healthcare institutions and GGD institutions, compliance with these measures, such as the 1,5-meter rule, is very important. You don't want an infected person to infect other non-infected people.
  • Security guards ensure the safety of all employees, patients, visitors and people who are tested.
  • Security guards ensure that employees can concentrate on their work and do not have to worry about any violent incidents.
  • Security guards prevent dangerous situations. With physical security around, people think twice before resorting to violence.
  • If something dangerous does happen, security guards intervene, so that the situation does not escalate.
  • They also serve as a point of contact when suspicious situations arise.
