Good news for football fans: the European Football Championship will take place this year!
The championship that was supposed to be played in 2020 has been moved to the summer of 2021 due to the corona virus: from June 11 to July 10 to be precise.
The football championship will be played in various cities in Europe, including Amsterdam. We are proud to announce that the matches played in Amsterdam will be, among others secured by Dutch Crowd Security.
Long time ambiguity about the passage of the European Championship
For a long time there was uncertainty about whether the European Championship could take place this year. The capriciousness and unpredictability of the coronavirus made predictions in this area very difficult. There was also a lack of clarity about the question for a long time in what shape the European Championship could go ahead. Is it wise to let the European Championship take place in different European countries? And will that be with or without an audience?
Now that vaccination programs have started all over Europe, UEFA dares to announce it officially: the EC continues. And not only that: UEFA has even announced that the original plan will be maintained: 51 matches in 12 European cities, including Amsterdam.
European Championship: with or without an audience?
Due to the measures surrounding the corona virus, football fans are currently not welcome in the stadiums. However, the European Football Association hopes that the situation will have improved in the summer of 2021 so that the public can be admitted again. Various scenarios are being worked out for this.
Dutch Crowd Security secures European Championship 2020
The matches in Amsterdam take place in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Whether there will be a public welcome or not: safeguard is needed anyway. Dutch Crowd Security has made agreements about this with the organization. We are responsible for a large part of security during the competitions. We also have experience in securing football matches. Our security guards therefore play an important role in the safety of the stadium, the visitors and the event in general. A cool assignment, which we will carry out with great dedication as always!
